Can I re-obtain my XP product key from MS?

Now that it is pre-ordering time, I am pretty well convinced that I am going to order a three upgrades to Windows 7 Pro. However, in thinking about it, I realized that, like a dope, I never took the time to record my PK before I erased my genuine copy of XP Home back when I started beta testing on my HP Mini (which of course comes with no CDs). Windows was most certainly "activated." Does Microsoft have a mechanism for retrieving lost keys so that I don't have to pay three times as much?

Aren't there usually stickers on the PC somewhere that have the product key? Or in a booklet that was included?

lol, IAFI. This is probably the first pre-built computer I've bought since the early Nineties. I never thought to look there. I was pissed when I first got it that I did not get the holographic certificate of authenticity and backup CD like I would when purchasing retail. Sorry to waste the forum's time, lol.

NONO... you cant do that... but you can run a program that shows your product key..
Go here and download it and run it: Magical Jelly Bean Software - Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v2.0.1

Well, the point was that I had already formatted over that install and had been putting the betas on that partition without ever having recorded the PK -- thankfully, it _was_ on a label affixed to the bottom of my Mini.

I tried that program on my other PC, though, and it worked like charm. Thanks for the post!
