Firewire network with Windows 7 ??

Hi,

I bought a two new firewire cards for two desktops as I transfer quite a bit of media between them regularly...
When I connected them, they showed up in the device manager, however there is no network being created, so I can't start a transfer...
I have searched and searched but I can't find any good info on how to create a firewire network within windows 7!

I may be way off here, or missing a trick, but I need some information.
Having these PC's transferring fast is very important...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't solve the problem.

1> The tutorial is wrong, there is no support for Vista + higher.
2> They say in that tutorial to 'run setup wizard' etc,
but because there is no support that won't work.

I have drivers for it but it still won't make a network connection and therefore,
I cannot begin transfers.

I see. You could try these, but by all accounts it could be buggy.

Didn't realize MS had pulled support for Firewire networking.
Might be better to just get a crossover cable What Is a Crossover Cable? .
Don't know where you are posting from, but they cost less than $10 here.

Now that I did a bit more reading, it seems that depending on how new the laptops are
you might be able to do it with a straight through cable. As the NIC's should auto
negotiate a connection.
