Anybody have any luck with nVidia Quadro NVS 110M

On my dell D820, no luck with vista drivers, and not being prompted by windows update.

If you go to Dell's website and search for a driver, see Drivers & Downloads, there are drivers for Vista 32bit *and* Vista x64 that you can pick from - they show the NVS 110M and 120M as both being suitable.

Therefore, Searching on nVidia's site for drivers I see that NVS for Notebooks only goes down to the 120M series - but that links to a Vista driver dated 18 December 2008 (about 21 days ago) that is listed as:

Quadro NVS Release 179 for Notebooks BETA Version: 179.28 Release Date: December 18, 2008 Operating System: Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition Language: U.S. English File Size: 126 MB
This is a reference driver that can be installed on supported NVIDIA Quadro NVS notebook GPUs. However, please note that your notebook original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM about recommended software updates for your notebook. OEMs may not provide technical support for issues that arise from the use of this driver.


However, since they say to use the OEM's drivers, I highly recommend you go to the Dell page and search for your driver using your machine type - Laptop --> Latitude --> D820

That is the first thing I tried, the Vista driver from Dell's website. I'm not having any luck. Specifically, I am able to run the nVidai setup but when I reboot - the display adapter is still some generic adapter. When I update driver manually, "have disc" etc.. the driver will not install - I get an error (can't remember the exact message, something about the file being improperly formatted or something).

No luck running setup in vista compatability mode. Setup runs fine and prompts to reboot. After reboot I get some nVidia startup errors and the driver obviously is not installed properly.

I had it working for the past 4 months and now when my HDD crashed and I installed fresh W7, and it won't work anymore. It sucks!

After installing Windows 7 64bit on my Dell D820, I downloaded the Vista 64bit drivers from Dell's site using the link provided in the post above by johngalt. I right-clicked on the downloaded file, chose "Properties", then "Compatibility". I checked the box for compatibility mode the chose "Windows Vista" (as opposed to the options with service packs). I clicked "OK" then ran the installation. I rebooted when it was done and ... it worked. The aero theme kicked in and my external LCD monitor came on.

Happy.

Since this thread comes up #1 when you google for "Nvidia quadro nvs 110m windows 7" I thought that it might be helpful to post up and let folks know it works.
