HP Remote does not work with Win7

New member
No big deal, but I have a nice little remote that came with my HP back in December. It works great with Vista but I cannot get it to work with the windows 7 install. Some of the buttons work but most dont. I have tired to install the drivers from HP multiple times but no luck.

Any Ideas?

That's a good question, and a very horrible predicament indeed. Open Windows Media Center and list what buttons work and what don't.

My buddy used to work for HP Technical Support in Canadia so I'll ask him what's the deal.

the Screen display button works.
the quickplay button makes a "ding" noise,but nothing happens.

Thats about it. Nothing else seems to work. No volume play,pause etc.

Its a good question why it has been moved... Hardware is hardware. The remote in my hand is hardware and it DID more than just control media center.

It works!!! I am very grateful. One thing that is weird is that I have a file with the same name, I tried to install it a few times today if several different ways. But this one file you linked installed straight away and it all works not!

You are very welcome. My laptop has a remote too (rarely use) and I had to install the same particular driver/file to use it.

I know you don't have a dv4, but I was having the same problem with my remote. It would turn the computer on and switch the display but nothing else....

Windows Action Center said I had to install a driver for the remote and I did, but only what I said before works...

No. HP laptops use IrDA only to receive remote control signals. It only works one way thus making other use impossible (i.e. communicate with a mobile phone or another computer with IrDA).

All Intel based HP laptops can use the same ENE CIR driver packet for IrDA, sp41645.exe. It is a Vista driver but works perfectly with Win7, both x86 and x64 versions.

Installed and rebooted, still no luck, tell me something thou, will this work only inside of Windows Media Center ? when i had Vista i was able to use it to control windows media player as well ....

it wont work and this either bought 2 remotes both rc1762302/00 both work but no joy they came from dv6 on vista and worked lovely lol must be a fix some where
