Many of these things don't have any extra drivers.

Right click on the desktop, choose "Screen Resolution", you can set up the displays there;

To adjust display settings etc. use the Catalyst Control Centre on your desktop;

You can also use the manual controls on the monitors.

Ifg the DVI ports on your card are anything like the ones on this XFX 6950 (this one is conveniently marked on the backplate, whereas none of the 5 6850's on Newegg are marked as such),

Newegg.com - XFX HD-695X-ZNFC Radeon HD 6950 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

xfxvga.PNG

and I am reading this right,

the lead i have is a vga lead but with an adapter on the end. my other monitor is plugged in the top dvi and the new monitor in the bottom dvi.
You have the VGA cable/adapter in the on DVI port. If that is the case you need to swap the connectors around as only the top DVI port is capable of sending a VGA/analogue signal. Would also explain why Windows isn't detecting the new monitor.

i tried switching them around. now the new monitor is on and the previous 1 doesnt get detected. ive tried both ccc and windows cntrl panel 2 detect the other monitor.

this is the way i hav them setup
the benq G925HDA monitor is in top slot with a vga cable going from the monitor into a converter block into the DVI / VGA on the graphics card.

then the second monitor. AOC f22s+ conected to the bottom DVi with the original DSUB to DVI lead.
these r the specs on both if it helps.

i dont want them set as the same desktop. i want 2 use the f22s+ for games as before. then hav the benq seperate for desktop and net. not dual monitor gaming.

i hav just read a review saying that the conector is'nt for this use. it has 2 be a VGA to DVI lead. is there any truth to this:what:
thanks 4 any help folks. much apreciated

edit: BenQ have just emailed me back saying that if i get a VGA splitter then this should sort it. i cant see this working as i want to b able 2 set the native resolutions on the monitors which are both different. where if if was to use a splitter then wouldnt i have to set it up as if it was 1 screen??

would i just be better off returning this monitor and getting 1 that has a DVI conection. then i can just conect it straight 2 the second DVi on the graphics card???
sussed it lol. my other monitor is also just analogue. so as the top slot in my GPU is the only 1 that can produce a analog/VGA signal then i will just go buy a digital monitor that will plug into the second dvi slot on the GPU.

lol yup i should of checked properly before buying. both my monitors r analog so need 2 get a digital 1

Guess it's time to return the new one for one with a DVI port, or HDMI or displayport if you find one you like seeing as your card has all three.

Point of interest maybe, Windows does not detect the monitor it's the graphics card that does. Most monitors don't require a specific driver.

When you do get one, go for one with a DVI socket at least. I don't play any games at all, and never have, but I find the extended monitor setup to be indispensable for a lot of things.
