Hi, I've been having this ongoing problem now for 6 months. It seems that all of my accounts have been used to send spam. I have 3 hotmail accounts which, 1 for friends and 2 bogus ones I give out to websites that want an e-mail.

On one of my accounts I get a message from hotmail before I login telling me that my account has "suspicious activities" that someone may be using it to send spam. I login and in my inbox all I see is FW: hkjhklh spam. Now that account I removed all contact lists.

But today I got a warning from Avast about a malware block, that happened to the said account before but now it happens to all my accounts, whenever I click on any link in Hotmail - example: New, Contacts, Drafts, I get that warning no matter which account, something that never happened before.

I use avast anti virus, I routinely run malewarebytes, and windows defender and nothing comes up. Could I have a keylogger? Should I just delete all my accounts and use a different e-mail provider? This is becoming an extreme nuisance and I don't want to be used as a proxy to sell viagra. Most forums I'm subscribed to our on a hijacked account including this forum and I will have to sign up all over again.

Please help. I use chrome as my browser. Here is attached a pic of the warning.

Have you tried changing the password on the compromised hotmail accounts?

Same thing happened to me so after I talked to support, I just closed out the Hotmail Account and am using something else.
Different ID and different password.
Have different e-mail accounts for Private use only and one for general use.

Its not you its hotmail that has been compromised today, happened to me also and to lots of other people, I closed all my hotmail accounts and opened a gmail one instead, just to note i am also using Avast, i wonder if others who are not using this antivirus realise that their accounts may have been compromised!

If thats the case then hotmail has been very negligent. But like I mentioned in my original post, this has been going on at least for me for quite a few months now.

Its true trust me and has nothing to do with your past problems, Avast blocked this site(css.wlxrs.com) anytime i went near hotmail and i googled it and found others with the same problem TODAY. Hardly a coinceidence.

I've been googling and people have been describing the same problems, it's surprising that a company like microsoft/msn has let this gone on for so long.

I read through the thread. Regardless I know for a fact some people on my contact list were receiving spam from one of my e-mail accounts because they showed me their inbox, and because Hotmail flagged- and still does- that account specifically.

I deleted all my contacts from that hotmail account in order to stop that. So maybe just one account was compromised and the false warnings for my other accounts are just a coincidence.

Thank you larry, now I can focus on one account.

That is why it is so important, when forwarding e-mails, to delete all the previous addresses before sending.
Just highlight all of the addresses and hit the delete button before sending.

Yes sounds about right, my sister had a similar problem to yours when people on her contact list were getting emails from "her" telling them to shop at this and that site. The only reason she found out about it was because one of the people who got the spam mail from "her" emailed her wondering why she had sent it when they hadn't spoken in years and the last time they had spoken they had had a massive argument lol

She did the same as you deleted her contact list and no longer keeps a list of any contacts. Anyway good luck with sorting that account.
