Hi...i'm new in this forum...my problem is like this:

i've one HP laptop with pre installed windows 7 basic...some days before, i purchased 1 oem system builder windows 7 professional kit with windows anytime upgrade option...i upgraded my windows 7 basic to professional version smoothly...

and yesterday, i received another oem system builder windows 7 professional kit with windows anytime upgrade option. To check the key is working or not, i use the change windows key option and the key successfully changed.

but my question is that, now my previous oem system builder windows 7 professional kit with windows anytime upgrade option is available for use in another laptop or not..or i just wasted one precious win7 pro key...

The Anytime upgrade is a retail thing, as long as you use it on a single computer at any given time its fine. By switching to a different license, you effectively uninstalled the first.

But I'm intrigued by this system builder pack with AU option. Can you tell us something about it. Where did you get it from and how much did it cost? What does it say on the pack. Because theres an inherent contradiction here. The system builder license legally gets tied to the first mobo while AU is retail.

i bought that pack during my travel to Indonesia...that pack clearly states that it includes AU option...actually i used that option only at first time...after that i got windows activated via internet..and it costs app $150...

Well you can try validating windows at the MS site, if it works I guess thats fine.

But seriously, if you have the energy please attach a pic of that cover. Maybe MS's selling something special in some countries.

FWIW:
Normally when you activate a copy of windows, that is the official use of the license, it can't be used more than once unless it is a multiuse copy. so it looks like you are stuck with two copies and both are already activated. I have never heard of an oem copy of upgrade that can be used more than once in a short time.

I also have never heard of an uninstall of windows that then allowed the license to be put on another machine. except the full blown commercial copies bought directly from ms or in a authorised software store.

Just my take on this.
Sorry
