Hi,

Whenever I go to open I file in a drive other than C:, I hear the HDD 'coming to life' inside my rig before finally opening the file. This never happened with XP so I guess there is a setting somewhere that I can turn off so that this doesn't happen??

cheers :)

It is a power setting. You'll need to go to your Power Options (powercfg.cpl), Edit Plan Settings, Change advanced power settings. Expand Hard disk, Turn off hard disk after and modify the setting.
