Solved My PC is making sounds?

UnderJonathan

New member
My PC randomly produces sounds like the ones that the Recycle Bin produces when you empty it. Anyway, I looked online and apparently, it might be some kind of spyware..but I checked with ESET Smart Security 4 and SUPERAntiSpyware but it didnt find anything. If it's a virus...how do i get rid of it?

Another thing to try: turn off the sound scheme, and see if it continues. That tells you if it's windows or something else.

Ok, ran a FULL SCAN..with the program you told me and no threats were found. But, I still hear some sounds coming out of the speakers but this is the only thing i have open right now. (These sounds are not repetitive..they're just random..)

If so, then you have some device that is disconnecting and connecting on you.

If you have anything connected to your laptop, unplug it and see if you still hear the sound. If so, then it's one of your internal devices that's disconnecting and connecting. If not, then plug them back in one at a time and wait to see if you hear the sound again until you find the culprit.

In addition, open Device Manager to see if you see any device listed with an exclamation mark.

You'll probably need to reinstall the drivers for the device once you find out which one is doing this.

Odd that we just had a person on the board with the exact same problem yesterday. They discovered that their external drive wasn't fully plugged into the wall outlet (power) and so was being connected and disconnected at random times.

Are the sounds coming through your headphones?

From the speakers as well?

Do the sounds still occur when you disconnect the headphones?

Do you have any other electrical equipment running in the vicinity?

Sometimes a charger or other equipment will cause that. Sounds like system sounds but it isn't.

I have another problem though...I cannot DOWNLOAD anything..at all..the window of "save file" or "cancel" appears but, as I click save...it will never even start the download.

My computer was actually humming this little noise depending on how many windows were on the screen at one time.

Not a virus

Disabled sound etc

Surely enough my computer had an HDMI cable plugged in.

Removing cable turned off noise.

Probably doesn't happen with modern equipment

Edit: Probably should have checked physical wires first
