Does Puran Defrag 7.3 Free work with Windows 7 Defrag disabled ?

I normally set the Disk Defragmenter Task Schedule to DISABLED,
and leave the Windows Disk Defragmenter defragsvc set to DISABLED.

Will Puran Free be able to safely and fully operate under these conditions,
or should I change defragsvc to MANUAL.

I occasionally create a Macrium FULL image of the system HDD, and daily INCremental images.
The FULL image file is 6 GB, and the Incrementals could total 2 GB per month at 75 MB per day - apart from when Windows 7 goes berserk and re-writes half the system partition, in which case the increment for that day will be about 3 GB (or 100 GB per month.)
The largest cause of a 3 GB increment is when no files are changed, but they have been shifted (even if they were not fragmented) as part of a partition defrag.

I am now keeping Windows 7 Automatic Defrag DISABLED to prevent unwanted bloating of the incrementals;
and at a time of my choosing I will launch Puran into a manual defrag before making the next FULL image.

I assume Puran uses the API's provided in/by Windows, and would appreciate advice upon whether I ought to switch defragsvc to MANUAL before launching PURAN.

I would also appreciate any other advice I have not yet realised I need.

I am using 64 Bit Windows 7 Ultimate + SP1

Regards
Alan

I have the service set to manual, but set it to disabled and tried the various Puran functions. All seemed to work fine. However, there is no harm in having this service set to manual. A Guy
