Im running fruityloops 9 and reason 5 with a midi keyboard. i recently upgraded my pc from 2.00GHz to a quad core 3.GHz , from 2 GB ram TO 4 GB ram, XP to Window 7 . I use m-audio fasttrack usb as my sound card witch plugs into my mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer with then plugs into my stereo amplifier. microkorg for midi with midisport uno cables. Im not having a problem with my midi , that is working awesome, my problem is when i go to youtube i get this very loud scratch noise for a couple of seconds while watching videos and its totally random , louder than my volume levels are set . ive tried disabling the onboard sound, i also read somwhere that adobe isnt working on 64bit tried to update that , ive updated the drivers for my m-audio device and the midisport cable.

any one?:(

Do you have any other electrical equipment operating in the vicinity?

the only other thing close to my cpu is the fuse panel, about 5 feet away, but ive been running the same setup with my old pc for about 2 years with no problems. all i did was pull the other pc out and put the new one in its place.

Thanks!

Random noises are usually the result of other incorrectly or unsuppressed electrical equipment switching in the vicinity. But it can have other causes. As equipment on various machines varies considerably, this may affect one machine more than another and some not at all.

Try moving the machine a little further away from your fusebox, and also removing or switching off any charging equipment or similar devices you are using.

This can also be caused by people using baby-phones and other similar stuff in the area.

Does this happen at particular times of the day/night?

Only when you watch you-tube videos?

Do you have the sound on speakers, headphones?

now that i think of it i have a phone modem and a cordless phone within 5ft aswell, ill see what i can do about moving this stuff . Also do you think it could have something to do with the power bar and extention cords i have plugged in, currently i have everything going in the powerbar ( with an extention cord aswell ) and all that goes to ONE outlet on the wall?

It happens everytime i go to youtube but not in fruityloops nor reason 5 .

Only when you watch you-tube videos?
It also happen when i watched a non youtube video on facebook.

Do you have the sound on speakers, headphones?
sound is through speakers.

A cordless phone in a charging shell is a prime candidate for causing such random noise.

It's possible that a power bar can also cause problems. ANY electrical equipment can cause such problems. Also, you really need to check if your wall socket can actually provide all the power you are drawing from it. I have seen such installations where the wall socket overheats severely, and this can also cause problems.

Well, this morning i moved my phone base and home phone modem out of the vicinity. I then turned on my PC. it still happened. But not in my reason 5 or fruityloops , only youtube video, so then i decided to try some simple pc speakers through the onboard sound and everything seems OK no sctratching sound but when i listen through my fasttrack it does it , maybe im not disabling the onboard sound properly
do you think there could be a driver conflict between flash player and m-audio

thanks!!!

It's possible. Unfortunately it can be very difficult indeed to track down the cause of random noise. There are so many possibilities. Using multiple audio channels on PC's can also cause problems. This is basically one of those things where you just have to try everything you can think of to eliminate the noise, or at least discover what is causing it.

Just a note. I have seen florescent lights cause this with a poorly fitting bulb or a ballast going bad. Like Mike their are many things that can cause this.
