With the launch of Windows 7 slated on cards for October, the analysts have predicted that it will account for nearly half of all the client operating systems to corporate users.

It is expected that by 2010, Windows 7 will account for 49.5 percent of Windows operating systems bought by corporations. In totality the figures will reach nearly 58 million copies. The increase in numbers for Windows 7 will be at cost of Windows Vista.

Windows 7 advance sales are topping the charts on best seller lists of certain sites.

Adding further, the reports cited that Windows 7 will account for nearly 35 percent of operating system market.

In 2011, Windows 7 will jump to nearly 75 percent of units shipped while Vista will slip to 0.5 percent.

According to research firm IDC, Vista will completely go off the site in 2012, while XP will still account for 15 million units.

Also, the analysts are expecting its percentage to reach 95% by 2013.

WOW, but I just don't see that as happening...

I mean really it comes out at the end of October and 2010 is right around the corner. Just seems a little out of reach.

I still don't believe that people think XP is better than Vista. Come on, All you need to do is upgrade your Rig so that it can better support the amount of resources Vista needs. But truth be said, XP is most popular because it's really lightweight. And I love it for that when it fits just nice on my Laptop.

Now that Windows 7 meets almost all the advantages XP has and drastically improves Speed Security and Stability, it is no surprise that most Corporations will switch to it. Hopefully my school computers that still run XP will be upgraded to 7.

Lastly, I think your sources are a little over-exaggerated. Not all corporations will be quick to switch to it until all applications are 100% compatible and drop support for XP.

XP is popular because companies don't want to spend money if the programs they use will still work and there is security support for XP. I can'e wait until MS stops supporting XP so my company will upgrade. It's sickening to use Windows 7 at home and XP at work. :(

It's not just that. It's probably because companies want to cut costs in buying cheaper low end machines and running Vista on those will only make them slower and bulky. This is obviously not something they want.

I bet they did not take GCOS into account. I will believe it when I see it.
