Hello mates,
Last nite i messed up my win 7 partitions. i wanted make a separate partition to install ubuntu 11.04. For this, i shrinked one of my partitions to free up some space.
however, as soon as i created a "new simple volume" from the newly created partition, all of my partitions on the disk turned down from primary partitions to simple volume.
Now when i rebooted my pc, bam!! no boot.
on googling, i found out that i have converted my basic disk into dynamic disk.
Further, i cannot view or edit my partitions from a linux live cd.
I have three partitions, out of which 2 are still visible from a live cd, while 1 is missing (this drive has all imp data!!)

Please provide me a solution, on how to revert the changes i made "without losing my data"
can i still boot on this windows with changing boot specs, if yes then how?

Hello,

Try using Partition Wizard to convert back to Basic. The latest free version took away that option, but the 4.2 release does have it. If you want to purchase the full version, that's fine, or you can try this copy: UppIT - Free File Sharing - Partition Wizard Home Edition 4.2.2.zip

Extract that to a USB drive, then create a system repair disc or use a Windows installation DVD. See here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

Whatever you have, boot it up, select "repair my computer", and open a command prompt. Enter:
Code:
"f:\partition wizard home edition 4.2.2\partitionwizard.exe"
If you get an error about not being able to find the path, swap out F for D, E, G, H, etc.
