Well, so far I cannot seem to get it to!!!! Anyone have a EMU 1212m or 1616 ??

Here's the deal.. When I install the PatchMix DSP app.. and restart the computer.. everything is fine... Until I use ASIO. I tried loading Sonar.. and then I have NO sound.. and then there's no sound at all for any apps.. even Angry birds (waaa) basically it kills my audio output. I tried loading a video online and there wasn't any sound there either.... Until I re-install the PatchMix DSP app again. and restart computer... so.. I am unable to use Cakewalk.. I tried Studio Instruments (stand alone) same thing happened.... so its not isolated to Sonar... BUT Fruity Loops 9 works in stand alone... Does anyone have any Ideas?? And please don't say..Download the latest driver.. or buy another Card, because I just bought this computer and I don't have more dough to shell out for a new Sound card. :)
I would however like to know if there is a better DAW out there?? I've used sonar for a long time but I am not real happy with it.:(
When I have some cash saved up I may try changing some things .. I promise you I won't buy another EMU card. Have had trouble with it before windows 7....:P
Don't mean to sound bitter.. just.. I've been working on this thing all weekend and cannot get it to work.....

This sounds like the card or a PC issue and not the DAW. I use Sonar 8.5.3 Producer and have the new X1 although I'm not thrilled about X1. A different DAW isn't going to help until you get the initial problems resolved.

The Sonar or gearslutz forums, which are more for recording and recording hardware might be a better place to look for help with the card.

I may have it ....

Okay, after going through some forums and picking several tips from other problems.. I got this to work.. so far..

I opened up the Patchmix DSP and in the ASIO INPUT column I Inserted a SEND - OUTPUT ASIO/WAVE and then I also Downloaded and Installed ASIO4ALL v.2 and made sure that all my software used it.. So far it working... Don't know why the ASIO software that came with the card doesn't work, but oh well...

Oh.. I don't really want to change my DAW, It's just that I seem to have had alot of issues over the years and thought maybe a change would do me good. :) Read some about Cakewalk not being the most friendly to communicate with Windows or some cards and stuff like that.. No matter.. I have what I need for now :) Gonna leave this up in case someone else has similar issue...

LIV (MDR).. started posting some beginner compilations on AUDIOFARM.org
Now with a new system Maybe I can rip out some nicer sounding stuff. look for MDR :)
