Frequent IE9 Failures

Tho I like IE9 Ver: 9.0.8112.16421 (RTM KB982861), the behavior to be described is quickly becoming unacceptable for me to continue with it. More often than less when I clik on a favorites, be it thru the favorites menu bar or the pull-down menu I frequently get the display attached. It always requires a single 'refresh' either via right clik menu or the circle-arrow in the address bar to get the site to come up. Any way to resolve this other than reverting back to IE8?

Adding ....

Open IE9 > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset > OK

You are quite right, my apologies. How quickly I forget how some solutions which seem to have no relevance can bring about the remedy. Many a time have I discovered (and just as quickly forgotten) that the simple but seemingly absurd act of restarting the computer has cured many ills. I'll give this a try.

well, I followed all the steps prescribed in the link provided. At first it appeared all was well but as time went by the symptoms re-appear. Slowly at first, but with frequency increasing with continued IE use. Odd how a simple refresh clik quickly brings these web sites up. It seems to me something is broken on my IE9. Never had this issue with 7 or 8 and my surfing habits or visited sites has not changed.

One last possible "fix"...

Open IE9 > at the top, click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > under Reset Internet settings, click Reset > OK

How many user accounts do you have in the system ?
If more one, please logon to that account and see if Internet problems also exist.

If you have only one account, please create another account and check the Internet Explorer.

only one. Went to create a new one and discovered there was a 'Guest' account (turned off). I turned it on and switched over to it. Surfed the internet for a while and have not yet encountered above described issue. Will surf more later and see what happens. So, if no problems with Guest, what does it all mean?

Confirm your " guest account " findings with a " real " user account.

Create an account with exactly the same privileges as the one you have problem with. Logon to that new account and see if the problems are no longer present.
If no more issues in the new account, then that means your old account is corrupted.
Please confirm that before we go to next stage.

I shall jump the gun a little as it sounds like you have a corrupted user account....

How and what to do with a corrupted user profile :
Fix a corrupted user profile

Note :
After you create the profile, you can copy the files from the existing profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to complete these steps, including the new account you just created.

One is I did not see anything that describes 'fixing' the alleged corrupted account. it seems to instruct to create a new account and copy files from the old one into it. Two - the alleged corrupted account is too large for the copy procedure.

Finally, as I did not have this issue with IE7 or 8, this is an unacceptable remedy and I will either revert back to earlier version or live w/the IE9 anamoly, unless an alternate resolution surfaces.

Yes. The tutorial is to copy the files from a corrupted account to a new account.
It is not meant to " fix " the " corrupted " account.

Many months ago in another forum, I had one user refusing to accept that the only rememdy was to start a new account and remove the corrupted account.
I countered with an analogy....
If you have a punctured tire, you look for a new tire for replacement. You don't look for repairing the punctured tire.
He did not buy that either.

Perhaps you would go back to IE8 and see if you do not have anymore similar issues.
Uninstall IE9 and the system will automatically revert back to the previous IE version.

It's your call.

I did in fact have a punctured tire in the past. Fixed it and got all the mileage it was designed for out of it.
