Hi all,
I've been getting random BSOD's on and off for a good 4-5 months now. As I built the computer myself I wanted to do as much as I could myself before requesting help
However i've been unable to find a fix. Firstly the crashes were occuring for the first 3-4 months a minimum of twice a day. Completely random (it could crash within five minutes or after five hours) also the BSOD error messages would be different every time. memory management, bad pool header etc. I lost count of the different one's I saw.
After trawling for answers I took the pc to my local computer store, they carried out a full hardware test twice and it showed no errors. I myself have also carried out a memtest86 for 10 passes with no problems.
However they did say that my old PSU (600w) may underpower the pc, it was also an old one. Thus I purchased a coolermaster GX-750w PSU.
Then for two weeks I had no more BSOD's, there's me thinking it's fixed. However it came back, and for 3 days it crashed again atleast twice a day with no pattern.
Foolish of me, I only just reaslied I had event viewer on the PC, and all the crashes before the PSU replacement and after are as a result of "windows kernel power".
After further googling kernel power BSOD I found a fix which stated that if you have an ATI card it comes with a sound driver that can conflict with the realtek drivers (which I have installed) I disabled the ATI sound driver.
I also removed a stick of 2GB RAM memory, just to try something else. The PC ran again for a week with no problems. I then put the RAM module back into the PC, and a further 2 days passed with no problems, and then it started again, same symptoms yet they are less frequent. Only three have occured in the last 4 days.
I appreciate this message is long, i'm just at my wits end with this computer and want to get all relevent info down
It's also worth noting that in this time I have done a complete clean re-isntall of windows 7 and also updated the bios.
