My nephew has been watching Super Mario Bros vids on Youtube and wanted to play the games so I pulled out my original SNES I bought back in 89 (or whenever they were released) and hooked it up to the Plasma and it still works.

here are a couple of shots of him playing,

It was released before 92, I know that for a fact since I bought it at the base in Iceland before I moved here to Virginia.

EDIT:
Looks like the SNES was released in August of 1991 and the NES was released in 1985.

Good stuff! I still fire up the Sega Genesis, SNES, NES, and N64 emulators every so often. Growing up on those systems was awesome. I saddens me to think that many kids today have never played a video game that was a chunk of plastic because everything is disc now.

Thats where guys like us come in and hook up the old school systems and show them how far we have come. That reminds me I need to dig out the old Sega MasterSystem thats one I haven't messed with in a very long time.

I miss my original Nintendo.I still can't believe my parents sold it at a yard sale for $5. It was while I was gone too so I couldn't say anything. It even had the Nintendo dust cover for it. :'(

I am glad to see that your is still running! I have a SNES too but and have always been meaning to break it out and see if it is still working ( it should be). Trouble is, trying to find some of the games i have lost over the years is an expensive process. Seeing them go for $100+ on eBay is slightly troubling.

Troubling indeed! There is a place here in Vegas that sells aftermarket consoles that are like multi-game slot loaders. It would have, for example, a slot for Genesis, NES, and SNES all on the same console. They go for like $50 new. Then you just need the cartridges.

Ouch, Ive bought all mine from yard sales and flee markets. Think the most ive ever spent was 10 bucks for Final Fantasy III

@computertech19 I think i still have two other systems sitting around here I use to buy them real cheap and then resell them. yeah Im nuts but I have to say made some good profit from it.

Ahhh, memories!
I bought mine basically to Play Zelda and some of the RPG's that were out.
Those cartridges were very reliable, too. You didn't have to worry about the kids scratching up the discs.
Some of those cartridges are over 20 years old and still play, today.
