Windows 7 dock and email

:sarc:I had access to my Yahoo email program by clicking an envelope icon on the "dock". Unfortunately, I accidently downloaded Google Chrome, removed it, and somehow lost the link to my email. Is there some way that I can reconnect the envelope icon back to Yahoo mail?
What I have tried so far:
I created a shortcut to Yahoo mail on my desktop and then dragged it to the icon, but it only worked as long as I left the shortcut on the desktop. The minute I deleted the shortcut from the desktop, the envelope icon no longer worked. I am baffeled! Thanks.

Hi bjclark, if you drag the program you want from the start menu to your dock should resolve your problem ;)

EDIT; unsure if you would have a start menu entry for Yahoo (depending whether you are accessing Yahoo through an email client or not?) The other option is to hide your shortcut in a folder somewhere where it wont bother you, or i can drag a bookmark from my browser (Firefox) into Object Dock it may be worth trying

I tried all of your suggestions and the one that worked was hiding the shortcut in a folder. I also posted the problem in another forum and here is the response from pip22.


"That's caught out many Google Chrome user's who subsequently removed it. It messes up the HTML data in the Registry.
Unzip the attached file and you will get a file named chromeHTML.reg
Right-click it and choose "Merge"
Click yes to allow it to be added to the registry.
It will restore the correct HTML associations.

If you'd rather see first what the file contains, open it with Notepad."

Rather interesting. I tried his solution and it also worked. Thanks for all of your help.​
