Solved New monitor issues

Hi,

Just bought these new LED monitors and they seem to be having some ghosting issues while in Windows. Haven't seen it in games. Anyways, this monitor has a 2ms response time, which is suppose to help minimize ghosting, but I'm still seeing it. Even if I move the mouse ever so slightly or if I drag a window, it's there. Not sure whether my settings are wrong or what.

I have an Acer S243HL 24" LED monitor.

I notice the monitor is an energy star model.
Have you tried disabling it's energy saving feature?

These led monitor's (I have two new led LG's) are set almost if not to full brightness. Have you had a chance to get in and adjust them to a real world level with better black balance and contrast?

Currently, the brightness and contrast are set to 50/50. I was tweaking with it earlier to try and get rid of the ghosting.

Not sure how to do that. I know this monitor has an Eco mode, and it's not set to that.

Had a look at my old monitor's settings. Brightness and contrast were set to 50/50. The other monitor more color settings, such as cool 1-4, and warm. I think it also had a custom mode as well.

Okay, I think I got it. It wasn't contrast or brightness. In the monitor's settings, you can adjust the color levels individually, so I set all of them to 100 (RGB), which should produce white if I'm not mistaken. When I changed that, the "ghosting" seemed to disappear. Even some of the things which were gray actually look like their normal color.

Yep, I'm not sure just why these LED's come factory set to such levels? I noticed the LG's even have a store demo mode which displays it's features and has a very hot color saturation level. But once you find a good setting then they really come in there own. And the big thing for me is almost zero heat !

I have an ACER S243HL with a Dell Quad core -XPS - with ATI HD5670.Ive had this combo since 2010,
Solution:
1) I found that the sure fix solution is to download the latest Catalyst Control Panel - with drivers, install them, reboot - then goto settings in the ATI Control Panel (right click on your windows desktop), goto DIGITAL FLAT PANEL sub section and select "Enable GPU Scaling", this setting will give you 1080p on your 24".
2) The only other way around this I found is to disconnect all power cables from PC and Monitor for 5 minutes whilst also disconnecting any connections between PC and monitor and then reconnecting making sure that the LED monitor is on before switching on the PC.
I originally discovered this problem when I introduced the UPS (Uninterruptable Power supply) to my new monitor, it caused adverse affects to my system. I suspect it has something to do with the way ATI handles the screen resolution. As clearly the screen is fully capable of displaying 1080p without any 1 inch border black around the edges.
