HP deskjet 990CSE

Hi everyone.....

I currently have Windows Xp and will soon be buying a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit.

I have been using an HP deskjet 990CSE printer on Windows XP with no problems and would like to use in on my new system when I buy it.

Will the 990CSE work in Windows 7 64 bit?

It should. From HP:

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product.

If we go by this - Software & Driver Downloads HP Deskjet 990cse Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English) then yes your printer is compatible with Windows 7 as there appears to be Windows 7 x64-bit drivers for your printer.

You will find very few XP compatible devices which won't work in Win 7. The major hurdle will be going from X86 to X64, but not too much problem there either. MS has done a fine job trying to keep up with drivers and getting manufacturers to supply them.
I have a HP photosmart which is 7 years old which works with Win7 but without all the HP hoopla and crapware.
