Can I just hook up my install drive on the new mobo and it will load so I don't have to go through all the trouble of reinstalling everything? Or do I just need to run acronis and reload an Image?

Just connect your drive and you should be good to go.

You may need to update your chipset drivers, but your OS should be unaffected by the hardware change.

I don't think you'll have any activation problems either unless you were to say change your mobo, hard drive and graphics card all at the same time.

I agree with Seavixen. You should have no problem.

I recently switched from an EVGA 730i mobo to an ASUS P5Q SE Plus & all went well.

Theoretically, all should go well, but....
Murphy's law is never to be ignored.

Backup any data dear to your heart. Data-wise plan for a catastrophe.

Best to be prepared.

Well, maybe not when changing anything out, I mean you can install any type of hardware (/w drivers of course) and restart (warmboot) or start (coldboot).
