i am thinking of buying a new cpu i want a cpu that is better then the intel core 2 quad q6600 kentfield g0 2.40ghz my motherboard is p5n-e sli

@Work I use a Lenovo 5536B8U + Lenovo U300s
If your staying with LGA 775, the best CPU you can get is the QX9650. Mine is mildly overclocked to 3.5 Ghz & it can be pushed easily to 4 Ghz. Since you already have a quad core, the improvement may not be that noticeable.

Finding a new one could be difficult. I bought mine used - no regrets.
