Hello.
I was interested in skining my login screen, but only available option that I've found was backgroung and three styles of text shadows. Is that really all? (As a programmer i am sure that everything is possible, including this, so my question is how complicated this would be.)
Cheers

Thank you for your reply. I was generally thinking, that inside windows there is a file, which somnehow determines how:
Login box look like.
Buttons look like.
Text is large.
And so on. I wanted to change the login picture box frame and so on. But I am not sure this is not too much hard for me. (eg. to parse that file, if there is any)

Hello Forgotten

Yes there is. C:\Windows\System32\Authui.dll looks after most of those settings. You will need a program like resource hacker to open it. Its a bit of a mine field in there though but there is some information on what to edit if you google around a bit.
I cant tell you how to remove any of the above but haven't yet played with re-designing any of them. Let us know how you get on.

Here are the links to remove/add them -

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31916-log-screen-change-remove-text-branding.html

To alter the logon picture size/shape you will need to edit the C:\Windows\System32\Authui.dll

Just to add a little to Danny's post you will find a Image Folder and a Bitmap Folder for the picture frame and the buttons in Both C:\Windows\System32\Authui.dll and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Authui.dll for 64-bit.
Be sure to make a system restore point first http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html
Be very careful I don't know where I read it but disabling something on that login screen can make your computer not start or logging in for some reason so do your research.
