Windows 7 Freezes after few minutes of idle (Dell E6410)

Hello,

I have noticed today that after a few minutes of idle time my laptop completely freezes, no ctrl+alt+delete and I have to manually power it down.

I have even seen this when i reboot my computer and don't enter my password at the login screen for a few minutes.

The hard drive LED keeps glowing.

The only change I did was run windows update. The Perfmon file and the BSOD Diagnostic tool report are both attached with this mail.

Would appreciate any help am at my wit's end. Unfortunately System Restore was disabled too so I can't even rollback.

Unfortunately your zip doesn't contain the necessary dump files but it does contain everything else, s please do the following below in quote.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.


To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi Seth,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I just checked and although the option is enabled in startup and recovery settings there is no minidump folder in my windows directory. I have just created the directory manually but of course at the moment it's empty.

Should i wait till my system freezes again?

My suggestion is to enable Driver Verifier following this guide and let your computer bsod a couple more times while it's enabled. Guide= http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html after the computer bsods at least twice disable driver verifier by opening the program again and deleting the settings either in normal mode or safe mode if you can't in normal mode.

Hi Seth. Thanks for that, I will certainly enable Driver Verifier but I don't get a BSOD. My computer just freezes would this work for that as well?
