Newly created user accounts cant login to Windows 7

Hi, seen lots of threads about this error message but not in this context so I'm thinking I might get some joy from you oracle like marvels.

A customer I saw today had a family Win7 PC with four user profiles on it. All worked apart from one called Hannah. When selected it started to load but then just showed "The user profile service failed to logon. user profile cannot be loaded"

the account was hardly used (Hannah is 9) so we decided to delete it and make a new one with a different name. For some reason the exact same thing happened!

Reading up on this people say to open regedit and go to HKEYLOCAL MACHINE>software>microsoft>windowsnt>currentversion>profilelist.
All the profiles for the three working profiles were there but the profile for Hannah or the new profile I made wasnt present.

So its like windows has a problem with running a fourth profile rather than it having an issue with one. Any ideas on how I might go about fixing this?

Hi, I am facing the same issue when try to create new user account, which fails to create profile & hence login. I have tried every step like regedit etc. with Adminstrator account login but no luck. Have anybody got the resolution to this issue.?

You could see if the tutorial below on the affected user account(s) may be able to help with this error. However, if the error keeps coming back, then it's usually time to do a clean reinstall.

Thanks Brink for taking time to look & reply om my query. But as I had mentioned in my question, I had already tried with regedit option (which is listed in tutorail shared by you). The main problem here is that newly created account key is not getting created in UAC ! So can neither edit .bak nor delete .bak as this user's profiel is not present at all in UAC ! With Administrator login I can only create new account, but while try to log in with new user profile is not found as it is not present in UAC !

I am eagerly waiting for any resolution to get SID created in UAC & really scared to think re-installation.

Sorry, but you were not specific on what regedit etc... that you had tried already, so I was just making sure.

Are you logged in as an administrator as per the STEP ONE section in the tutorial while trying to edit the registry?

If so, you could try doing a system restore at boot, using a restore point (if available) dated before you had this error to hopefully fix it.

Hey Brink, I know I am replying after 4 days. But in last 4 days I was trying to restore system as you mentioned in earlier answer by you. I tried various restore points. At certain point it allowed me to get user profiles of respective users activated again ! That's exciting. But at the same time, I am not able get profiles for new users created in UAC ! Not sure why the problem is still there. At present temporary solution of System Restore worked for me to get few of old users activated again.

Thanks a lot for all your help & timely response. Hope at some point I will get solution for root cause that profiles not getting created under UAC Profile list.

That's good news to a point. I would recommed to backup anything that you do not want to lose while you still have access to your accounts. Afterwards, you might consider doing a factory recovery to reinstall Windows 7.
