Good day all .

I read various posts on different area's regarding chipset installation and drivers.

Some info : motherboard is Microstar p45 platinum gamer series.:geek:

it comes with 2 sets of cd's #1 for win xp intel chipset drivers&utilities disk.
#2 chipset disk for vista.

question #1 does windows 7 64bit (pro) contain the sata drivers and all the utilities for install ? or do i need to utilize the preinstall of the f6 and make a install floppy? msi has a section for downloads .

I have searched for the uptodate drivers listed in the arcive section where my board is now listed.:D

I have downloaded all the drivers and a floppy f6 creater to install these files:D

I am a bit confused as to how i am going to install win 7 on this system .

I may go with a xp/7 duel boot .

I want to add raid 5 after 7 install and i know xp could not see anything beyond raid 0 or 1.
looking for some advice before i start the process.

I hope the thread title is better this time.
if the install sequence works the way i want it to go ; perhaps i can create a tuit.
thanks for everyone's help .
its always appreciated:D

F6 drivers not need to install Windows 7.
Do download all the Windows 7 drivers from MSI website, & install after Windows 7 is installed.

Yes, you can the on a USB Pen Drive, or burn to CD.

Win7 is driver-complete and is the authority on its own drivers. I would not change out any drivers issued by the installer or optional Windows Updates unless performance issues point to a specific driver needing updating.

That said, you can compare newer drivers to performance with chipset drivers given by installer after setting a restore point. But I would not kneejerk change them out without even testing performance as some who still live in XP-land would advise.

Gregrocker; in the recient changes by motherboard manufacturer's between ihar 7- 10 series from intel sata controller's software drivers have been revamped for optimal preformance from sata ii to sata 3 .0 and sata 6.0 throughput technology. I understand and agree with you , thanks . my reasoning was intel is quick invent ; however ... to impliment rather slow. msi grabs improvements and is always slow to provide on time updates.

what i was getting at was ; to install the proper drivers at the proper time to avoid install issues between hardware devices and questionable software issues.

thanks agin for your input . i want to get my win7 install off to a great start.

All of you ..... are the best.

There are always exceptions and you sound savvy enough to stay ahead on top of them. What MS did differently after Vista is subsidize all manufacturers under WHQL to build Win7 drivers so they wouldn't hold out to force us to buy newer hardware, and so that MS would have them first in the installer and via optional Updates.

Looks like someone moved this to the correct sub-forum where better-versed in drivers can add their perspectives and advice.

gregrocker, is preformance greatly enhanced in the overall aspects of speed of response time . does everything run faster? browsers , programs , games , simulation programs , streaming videos ? i wish to use this new build for extensive design applications.

looking forward to your thoughts.
