Booting from a USB?

I recently was on my Toshiba Satelite and I started getting permission requests for an .exe file, I would deny it, but it would pop back up every few seconds. I continued to deny it, and checked the file mapping of said .exe file, and before I could delete it, my computer restarted on its own. When it restarted system recovery came up, and attempted to recover files, and an error saying ""boot critical file C:\CI.dll is corrupt Repair action: File repair" and get an error code 0x2. I have a desktop with the same OS, and an 8GB USB drive, Would it be possible to copy the files onto the USB, and boot from the USB to restore the laptop? I don't care about file recoveries and such, and am new at computers, and don't know much, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I am having trouble locating my windows 7 ISO file on my desktop.

I can not find the IOS file for the desktop (it came preloaded with windows 7) I know that I may have to make one from a compilation of other Files, but have yet to find a tutorial to help me, I am 17, and any help would be appreciated, I don't care about losing any files/etc. Thanks in advance!

Hi Alex,

If you are looking for the win 7 repair .iso - it is not on your machine.

You need to create it - type recdisc at start search box, or command prompt.

Welcome to Seven Forums AlexSmith.
Di you create a Windows 7 .iso file? One is not included with Windows. If you did use the Start/Search and typ iso to see if you can find it.
If you have not made a iso file, you will need to find a Windows 7 install DVD to borrow from someone. It will need to be the exact windows type you now have installed for your attached COA (Certificare of Authority) to work. You can create the iso following this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/32055-bootable-iso-create-installation-files.html#post332289

You need to check for infection and repair Win7.

Reboot and tap F8 key repeatedly to enter Safe Mode with networking
to install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

If no Safe Mode, download ISO, burn to CD or write to flash stick Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper boot to run a full scan.

Once infection is cleaned up, boot into Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD to run Startup Repair.
You can burn a Repair CD on any Win7 computer with the same 32 or 64 bit version: System Repair Disc - Create

You can also reboot and tap f8 to see if the Repair console is on Advanced boot tools menu which contains Safe Mode. If so, choose it and see if it offers a Repair. If not click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair. Report back results.
