I'm trying to install the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT graphics card, however, when I place it in the PCIe slot, I don't get any video. The card only has two DVI outputs. The mother board is a Gigabyte ga-k8n51gmf-9 with an Nvidia 6100 integrated graphics. I can get a signal with VGA off the on board graphics, and I disable it, then try and install the new card and I don't get any signal from either the card, or the VGA output (Integrated). When I take the card out, I get a signal from the VGA again...

Also, the CMOS battery had to be replaced. I'm wondering what settings need to be changed. Its an Award BIOS F7.

Make sure PCi-E is priority for your gfx. Sometimes the bios can be very fussy.

You can try this,, take a normal pencil eraser & clean the gold tipped edges of the card,, only insert the card after you've blown out the dust from the PCIe slot.. make sure all graphic drivers from the previous card has been uninstalled properly.. Do you have a different Mobo for testing this Card..??

I cleaned the gold tips and blew out the PCIe slot. And i took me a while to find, but PCIe (labeled PEG) is the priority for gfx. Still nothing...

Make sure the DVi input is correctly plugged in to the card, also (if applicable) that the DVi adapter is plugged in to the monitor vga port properly.

You remember to connect the 6 pin PCI-E power connector on the card to the power supply? Also is the power supply up to running that card?

Yeah, I've checked all the connections multiple times and every things hooked up just fine. And the power connector is plugged in. In fact, the computer won't even boot without power to the card. The PSU is around 600watts, so it can handle the card. In fact, this has been the card that this computer has been running for several years. It stopped working after I had to replace the CMOS battery, so it MUST be something in the BIOS. I've gone through all the settings and I've changed PEG as the primary display and its set to turn off the on board graphics when a GPU is installed. (Though even when I have it set to always be enabled, it still won't work with a card in the slot.). I'm at such a loss here...could it be the slot itself? I powered the computer on without the 6 pin PSU connector plugged into the card and the card fan ran and some LEDs lit up. Is there a setting in the BIOS to make sure the PCIe slot is working properly?

Sounds to me like the card itself is damaged, if it's new then RMA it.
