Use "USB Modem" (3G) for Internet and LAN (Ethernet) at the same time.

Gentlemen,

My question is very simple, but I not found anywhere on the Internet an appropriate response.

Where I work, need to be connected to the LAN (Ethernet) in order to access remote servers, however these networks do not have Internet access. To access the internet I use a "USB Modem" (3G).

Question: I want to use the "USB Modem" (3G) for Internet and local area network (LAN) (Ethernet) at the same time.

Problem: Windows 7 not let me do this, since when I plug the "USB Modem" (3G) the LAN (Ethernet) is disconnected.

Note: They suggested me to create "a bridge" between the two networks, but this option is not available even if I release all shares in connection "USB Modem" (3G).

Any suggestions?!

Thank you!

Hi there
Not sure what the problem is --since you are already connected to the network via your LAN.

Now just also connect to wireless network via your wireless / usb type card -- I assume it's one of those USB data modules that are very common now like HUWEI usb modules.

W7 shouldn't disconnect an existing LAN connection.

set your Internet connection up in properties or whatever to use the network connection of the WIRELESS network. You should see in your Network connections that you are connected to several (i.e more than 1) Networks.

Just assign the Internet properties to the correct network.

Use an USB modem for internet while I can access the ethernet devices

Hi Jimbo!

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, is a device of the same kind of a Huawei 3G USB modem.

As you say, when I turned the USB modem ON, the ethernet local network (wired) is not disconnected. However, when I do that I can not anymore access local network devices. For example, I can not ping the servers that are in my ethernet (wired) when I'm connected to the internet using the USB modem.

What I want is just to use USB modem for internet while I can access the devices (servers) on my ethernet LAN.

Cheers
