Bulldozer is out and it sucks

Reviews have been released on Bulldozer and does not look good. In most tests it barely keeps up with a i5-2500K and the PII X6 1100T, and gets beat by both of these is most tests.

Price tops out at $245 for the FX8150 and the FX8120 at $205 may be the best deal.

Bulldozer does seem to have the upper hand in x264 HD video encoding though ...

I thought it was FPS, its time.
Wow, that just bad. 8 cores should be pounding a Intel quad & leaving it in the dust in a multithreaded app like that.

Well, I can't say that surprised me. AMD did say after all that Bulldozer was made to sell rather than compete. This being said, they still should've put up more of a fight. An 8-core CPU should easily outperform a quad core i5-2500k. The prices are decent though, I'll give them that. You could still get an i5-2500k for cheaper though which still seems to be the better option.

Shame on you AMD, shame on you.

Even the i3 2120 beat the 8150 in gaming.

Major fail AMD. This is gonna hurt even more when the i7 2700k is released later on this month and then when x79 is released. Not only that but Ivy Bridge will be knocking on piledriver's doorstep when it's released.

I have a feeling Ivy Bridge wont matter, and Piledriver will still need to battle with the 2500K.

Well, this isn't much of a surprise. AMD promised the world and the fanboys preached their upcoming chip which would stomp and destroy everything their competitor offered. Then, when we got closer to the date, the mantra changed to being more of a value chip and not a performance chip. Excuse me? Since when was the monster upcoming 8 core AMD CPU simply a budget offering. That's not what I have been hearing for what seems like years.

It's sad, I was hoping for so much more. I wanted an unbelievable competitive processor. Sadly, just left with another average run of the mill AMD offering. Good enough, but not great.

I wanted to get a Bulldozer but with the delays and lack of good information from AMD I wnet and built a new Intel rig. Also most of the chip will not be around in large numbers until Q2 next year. Thats what AMD is telling everyone. If these chips came out 1-1/2 years ago, which was when it was ment to come out, these chips would be amazing. It is a sad day for AMD and I have already sold my I7 2600K in my computer to a friend for a new build I am doing for him and plan on buying a I7 2700K and I hope to be able to overclock it to 5.5 GHz stable.

You synthetic benchmark monkeys will not be swinging from Bulldozer branches either as that is a disaster.

When you look at how much power the enthusiast's overclocked Bulldozer system will chew through under those multithreaded workloads, you have to realize just how much wattage you are giving up to not have an Intel processor. (Yes, we know some of you are brand loyalists.)

Wow. Just wow. This is probably one of the biggest product fails a company has done that I have witnessed in a while. They hyped Bulldozer too much, and got many people, including me, really excited. But the fact that its worse than Sandy Bridge, which has been out for quite a while already, is appalling. The fact that the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T is better in some tests than the new Bulldozer, is just messed up. I will leave it at that, but am very disappointed with AMD.

What would be better for me to buy, as a gamer: an Phenom 1090T or a 8120 (or perhaps something else from AMD)?
I heard the 8150 beats everything in Deus Ex: HR and Battlefield 3

I found this on a site I visit regularly, it shows gaming performance for Arma 2 and it doesn't fair well.

Perhaps this is why all the leaked OC results of 8Ghz+ OC prior to launch.
Does it need to run that fast to match a stock SB?

I would suggest to the gamer above to just skip the AMD chips right now and go Intel..for this very reason. It's not like you save much money on the AMD.

I would like to know where he say that FPS report. Also none of the benches have been done by well know reviewers. I do think that Intel chips are faster but I think alot of these benchmarks are being scewed by people who do not like AMD. Alot of the early reviews with charts where changing the scale of the AMD chart to make it look like they were not even close.
