BSOD opening files located on external harddrive - ntoskrnl.exe

External HD - WD My Book Studio Edition II (reformatted it for PC use) connects through SATA

Some information I think may be pertinent. I recently hauled my computer a few times to a friends for a lan session. After doing so, my computer stopped recognizing my external HD at the proper location F-Drive and started recognizing it as the E-Drive. Shortly after is when the BSOD started occurring.

I had a clone drive installed and it looked like it was running my external because the icon of the clone drive was next to my external rather than the normal hard-drive icon. I uninstalled the clone drive and the icon reverted back to normal but it still remains as E-drive. I noticed that the BSOD tends to occur when I interact with the external HD.

Also, not quite sure how to describe this but semi-frequently, little lines will flash across one of my screens. Hope this extra bit of information helps because I really want to fix this!

Thanks for any help in advance.

These were Related to ACEDRV09.sys Filter Driver ProtectDisc from Protect Software GmbH. I would update to the newest version as yours is from 2007 and cant possibly work in win 7 (released july 2009)

Thanks for your help Zigzag. I couldn't find an update for that driver so I just renamed it by adding "_old" to the name. No BSOD so far since the change and reboot, fingers crossed! Also, one other question, any clue as to if my external may have had something to do with this?
