I know we can change win7 settings with command, regedit or Rundll32.
Ex:
1) Rundll32:
rundll32.exe Shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl desk,@Themes /Action:OpenTheme /File:"C:\Windows\Resources\Ease of Access Themes\basic.theme"

Result: Change themes

2) regedit:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"EnableLUA"=dword:00000000

Result: Disable UAC

3) command:
POWERCFG /CHANGE /MONITOR-TIMEOUT-AC 2
POWERCFG /CHANGE /MONITOR-TIMEOUT-DC 2

Result: Monitor timeout.

So How to turn on/off Password Protected Sharing with command, regedit or Rundll32?
I cannot find any info. from GOOGLE?
Are there any books and documents that you suggest me to read? I want to more understand them.
Thanks in advance.

Same question, I need to know for my unattended installation. I am installing Win7 OS, and I need it to be able to find and work with other computers on the network by default. I obviously can't go around disabling it on each and every computer manually.

Are the machines connected in a domain environment? You can't easily turn it off since it would destroy your sharing permissions set on any file server that is joined in the domain. If you wish to allow access to everyone then I would add the user group 'Authenticated Users' to the share permissions.

Turning off password protection in a domain environment won't only just allow all domain users but also anonymous logins as well. Meaning anyone could access your shares even if they aren't joined in the domain.

You could turn it off on a base installation and then create a sysprep image to deploy however as soon as that machine joins the domain I believe it will automatically be re-enabled.

In a workgroup environment installing the sysprep image should keep the password protected sharing turned off however you should not have that many machines for a workgroup and therefore it would be easier to manually turn it off.
