Is there a way to make my current Windows 7 OS as a virtual machine?

I'm currently building a Server as well as in the market to snag a new laptop. How would I go about making my computer a virtual machine so that I could port over to my new gig.

Reason for this is that eventually I would love to get myself more "Organized" with where I keep important documents versus random crap. Stored all over my various machines.

Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You may want to check into licensing information. I'm no expert on that.

Vmware stand alone vm converter will do this for you. Acronis Universal backup and restore will also work.

This process is relatively simple - called P2V (Physical to Virtual conversion). The REVERSE (V2P Virtiual to physical) process is similar but a bit more complex since you need real hardware drivers).
