So I have Win 7 RTM and my iiyama MM904UT doesn't have any refresh rates except 75 and 85. I never installed monitor driver before - I didn't even know that they are there. So windows 7 automatically installed it and seems like problem. Because i need to set 60Hz here. I tryed to uninstall driver but didn't help, how can i get back to 60 Hz?

My graphic card is GTX260 with latest driver so seems like problem definitely isn't there.

Monitor Profile is the same as a driver... or so I have been told.

I am sorry but I don't fully understand what the problem is, Win 7 installed a profile/driver for the monitor and now, what? you can't see anything, the default resolution has changed, it doesn't change resolutions? a game doesn't start because of the low/high HZs?

I need a bit more explanation before I even consider trying to give you some advice.

a game doesn't start because of the low/high HZs?
Yep! Exactly ! To run Battlefield 2 I need my refresh rate to be set at 60Hz, but after Windows 7 installation there is just no 60Hz option to select. For 1280x1024 resolution only available refresh rates are 75Hz and 85Hz. Even for 800x600 those to refresh rates are only supported. In XP and Vista I could select any resolution I want from 60Hz to 85Hz, but now, just 75 and 85 - 2 options. How can I fix it?
Seems like you've got the idea of problem saying about "game doesn't start because of too high HZ" ..
Resolutions are fine it's refresh rate.

Why does it insist you have to run it at 60Hz?
When you rin BF2 first time is sets default rez to 800x600@60HZ but with windows 7 60Hz is IMPOSSIBLE - so have no idea why.

Also worth checking your window card settings control panel for any force refresh rate options.

Puzzler....

Do you have a VSYNC option in the driver or game that might help? As in turn it off? Might get some tearing but...

Here what the guide says concerning my problem.
Launching/Loading Issues: The most common problem with BF2 is that the game crashes to desktop or goes to a black screen when you first launch it. The reason for this is either incompatible hardware (make sure you meet all the minimum specs), or more usually the fact that you're not running at the default Windows XP refresh rate (60Hz). By default the game tries to launch at 800x600@60Hz initially, so your system must be able to run that same resolution and refresh rate, otherwise the game will abort. If you are using any refresh rate override program/method, disable it (e.g. if you're using Refresh Force, click the 'Restore Original Settings' button and apply). Alternatively, see the Advanced Tweaking section of the guide for details on how to set a different startup resolution, in case your graphics card/monitor simply cannot do 800x600@60Hz resolution. Once you've got the game running, you can then change the resolution to suit your taste in the in-game settings, and importantly you can select a higher refresh rate. Then you can reapply any refresh rate override and the game will launch without any problems. To set a non-standard resolution see the Advanced Tweaking section.

Or alternatively see advanced tweaking to launch in a different refresh rate. Your own quote tells you how to fix it. BTW the higher the refresh rates are better anyway

Ok, in some case the problem has been solved. Thanks to Ken I manually adjusted game start up resolution to 85Hz and it worked. But still I'm wondering why isn't it possible to use 60Hz in Windows 7? O_O it is just ermm.. strange.
What do you think in future to avoid such problems I should install Virtual PC XP mode?

When you installed Win 7, did you also updated your Video drivers to the latest version? I am almost sure you didn't but I am almost positive that Win 7 did and this may be causing you problems as well.

Go to device Manager and under Display Properties, tell me what you have.

Now, there is a saying that goes something like this... "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!" and since you got it working, I wouldn't change anything until you are done playing with it. ;)

Im thinking that since 60 hz is absolute minimum maybe win 7 has eliminted it because you need more graphics card than you did in xp/vista. you wouldn't want to run a game in vga would ya?

Let us know if the other games that dont work dont have a fix

First thing I did after Win 7 clean install - was installing nVidia 190.38 latest drivers. So.. :\

Nah hope that's not true. What do you think will I be able to run the game using XP Mode? Just interesting.
