hello,
i am using win 7 ultimate 32 bit and i have a router belonging to 3com.
my computer is desktop pc that is connected via cable to the wireless router, and there are 3 laptops that are connecting to this wireless router (3com).
i found six month ago a mannual that helps to add the router icon to the network folder in win 7.
for some reason it dosent show anymore.
please help me add the router to the network folder on windows 7!
thank you anyway,
t1a2l
no not in the network map. i meant in the network folder.
i see in the network folder only the other computers that are coonected to the network but not the router.
in the network map i see:
my pc--------------------gate------------------internet
i read some articls over the net, and i found out why i see only my pc on the network map: i needed to install on every pc running win xp an LLTD protocol installtion.
now i can see all the computers on my network are connected to the router (3com). and the router is connected to the internet.
my pc is also connected to the router but through a "switch".
but all of this still dosen't make the router apear in the network folder.
XP PCs will still show up in the Network window with out the LLTD responder patch, they just don't get shown correctly in the Windows 7 Network Map. I've downloaded and installed that patch on my old XP PC to fix that. Do you have another Windows 7 PC on your network, and does the router show up on that PC? Power cycle or reboot the router and see if it shows up again.

i don't think you understand.
in the network folder i see all the computer and them only.
i don't see the network printer - i see it under my desktop pc (this one).
and the router isn't there too.
i used a mannual to make it appear and for some reasons i don't see it any more.
the red empty circles or the router and printer that are missing in the network folder - pic 1
and in pic 2 you see the router but not the ptinter
(you can't enter anything in the network map - it is just for viewing).
my bigger problem is the router but if you could help me with the network printer also i will be greatful!
no there isn't, my pc is connected with a cable directly to the wireless router, while the other computers (laptops) are connected wireless to the router.
OK, that makes one wonder why your PC thinks there is one there? I think I might switch ports on the router and see what happens. Oh, and as far as I know, you shouldn't have to do anything to Windows 7 to make it show your router in the network window. As long as the router is UPNP able and its enabled that is.

i switch a port once in a while. but i think that every computer that i will plug to the router will show the switch.
and what update i need to install for my printer to be showen on the network map?
I don't think the switch icon being shown between your PC and router is normal. I have seen it here at home once. It's not there now and I don't remember what caused it to show up, or go away again. I was having network problems at the time though, or I wouldn't have noticed it at all.
How is your printer networked? I have a couple of printers shared on my network that are connected to my PC and they don't show up in my network window. They only show up in the Devices and Printers window.
