Photos duplicating on own when clicked on how do i stop this?

Every time i copy a file to another location it automatically creates a duplicate within the new folder. If for example i transfer 10 photos to my laptop it will transfer but also create an extra ten folders with a photo in each folder. Whenever a photo is viewed it creates another duplicate as well.

Can someone please help me with a solution to this problem?

I'm not sure exactly what causes this, but I do know moving it to a folder outside of the 'library' will generally prevent the problem.
