Is this a sign that HDD prices are about to fall?

I've noticed on Newegg that they've increased the limits on the amount of drives that you can buy.
I've seen 3, 5, 10, 20 and 100 drive limits, today. Even the 20 packs are back.

If they have so many drives in stock, then why are prices still so high?
Price gouging, perhaps?
Something smells fishy. :huh:

I'm wondering if prices will drop after the holiday.

Let's hope you reading the signs correctly. They will probably still keep the prices up artificially - at least for a bit. It is the easiest way for them to make an extra buck.

The news stories I've read indicate the recovery of the manufacturing plants will not mean normal supplies until Q3 2012, and apparently other sources cite not only is the scarcity due to floods in Asia, but mention a shortage of raw materials (probably metallurgic products from China).

Q1 2012 prices are set to rise another 15%, however the official line is Q4 prices in 2011 did not rise. Therefore it has to be assumed the price hikes we've all seen (of as much as 125%) are smaller scale wholesale and retail fuelled greed.
