Hi,

Does anyone know if the free Microsoft Power Point Viewer will work in Win7 Pro 64-bit? If it would, what version and where can I download it from?

I have tried Googling it but the more I Google the more confused I get.

Morning Phone Man,

I appreciate the link. However, after downloading and installing the program, it wouldn't open any of my .pps files, including those that I had saved from when I was using WinXP.

When I tried to open the program with 'PowerViewer.exe' I got the PowerPoint message in the enclosed attachment.

Any ideas?

At the timne of my post I had OpenOffice 3.1 set to open .pps files because I didn't have Power Point.

However, I just made PowerPoint the default program to open .pps files and I got the same message from Power Point as I had previously when I selected it to open the files one at a time.

After you installed it, does it show up in the Start Menu?
It looks like it is trying to use the install file you downloaded to open the files. Look for "PPTVIEW.EXE" as this is the file to open the viewer and that is where you should point the PPS files to open.
Yes it is in caps, I am not shouting.

Ooops ... sorry about my misunderstanding. But ... no ... it doesn't open my .pps files. It takes me to them but when I try to open them I get the viewer message I posted earlier.

OK, I think your .pps are still pointing to the wrong program. Go to Start Menu and in the Search box enter PPTVIEW.EXE (all caps) and when it finds that file right click on it and select "open file location" and then write down the path. Then select any .pps file and right click and chose "open with". Then you need to browse to the PPTVIEW.EXE file and select it.

Okay ... I hope I can explain this so you can understand me.

I tried typing 'PPTVIEW.EXE' into the Start Menu Search area like you said but the search found nothing.

So, then I went to All Programs ... left- clicked on Microsoft Power Point Viewer and it took me to a Power Point Viewer window showing my Documents folder. In the Documents folder I left-clicked on my Power Point Folder and all my .pps files appeared.

I then left-clicked on them one at a time and then clicked on Open at the bottom right of the Power Point Viewer window and each of them opened with Power Point Viewer.

However, if I would go directly to my Power Point folder and try to open them I still get that Power Point message I posted earlier.

OK, looks like the PP Viewer is working but the .pps is not associated with the right program. You may have to dig into Program Files (x86) and see if you can find where PP Viewer is installed and look for the .exe file.
