Hello all
can i use IDE DVD-ROM with USB Enclosure for IDE HDD? I want to backup and rip some dvd's which has some scratches but not that bad or unreadable but i dont like to put them in my DVD-RW.. i hava a spare SONY DVD-ROM Drive and SONY CD-RW.

Yes, but make sure you set the jumper to MASTER.

Thanks for the web link. I was thinking the other day about using a couple of old IDE hdd's as external drives. I probably could purchase one of those apparaat's locally.
I hesitate to buy it because all of the USB ports on my pc are being used. The only available port is on an external USB hub that I have. Do you think using a port on the hub would slow down the playback of music or a dvd film from a IDE hdd?

I honestly don't know whether using a USB port would slow things down, but no doubt someone more knowledgeable than me will tell us.
If you have a spare slot in your motherboard you can get USB PCI cards very cheaply.
