How do I change default double click action for CD's, DVD's and BD's

You can set it from your folder options.

Start Windows Explorer, highlight any folder and click Organize.

Click Folder and search options then check Single click to open an item (point to select).

Apply and OK out of the Options dialog box.

Seavixen is correct. Essentially you want a fuction that does not exist. Learn to adapt to the reality of the facts and use it as everyone else does. You'll drive your self nuts looking for an answer when it's already been given. Truly. Seavixen's anser is exactly right but now you want something else.

Be satisfied with haveing the right answer as it is that. Have you not proven just that through exhaustive searching?

Actually there is another way that could be checked and sometime more appropriate:

I noticed that the default (bold text) action changed, when I went to Computer/Manage/Disk Management and I changed the drive letter of the media in question, to another unused letter and the default action changed back to the standard one 'Open'.
So there is another key that can be used to reset the default action of Drives/Removable Media/Mount Points and it is:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\X

Where X is the drive letter where you want the default action to change.
