- All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
i use MSE, its the one that's Microsoft puts out. its pretty good and there's alot of updates for it. (that's a good thing) I use it with Malwarebytes, that one is also pretty good and free.

There is no 'best'. Be careful on the web and do frequent imaging. Then you are covered. Else, any AV program will do. I use Norton, many people use MSE, G-Data and Eset are also very good. Take your pick. AVG and McAfee are not recommended - for different reasons.

I can't say which is the best, but I am using MSE paired with built in Firewall in Windows 7, Malwarebytes (real time protection off!), and Spywareblaster. It's good and what's more important, FREE! xD

* You are asking for opinions.

* What is the best?
The best is the one you have tried & are happiest with.
Different things appeal to different people.
Read the blurb associated with each & then make an informed decision.
* Strickly from a BSOD perspective MSE is the preferred way to go.
To be avoided { as they appear the worst " offenders"} are Norton, McAfee & Kaspersky.

If you are just a Home User like I am then vou can use any number of free A-V programs that shall keep you fully protected. I use the free AVAST.
You can however take your pick from http://majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html. There are many sites like Major Geeks. I have given it only as an example as it is full of all sorts of freeware.

I base my recommendations off the type of user. If you are the type that steers clear of peer to peer sites, you don't download pirated software, you don't look for hacks and serial numbers and passwords and you don't surf for free porn all day...then I feel that most of the free AV's out there provide a reasonable amount of protection for your surfing habits. MSE, Avast, etc are all fine choices.
If you take more risks (like the above) and you visit questionable websites that offer things for free that shouldn't be free...then you might want a solution with more built in protection like Norton or eset.

Anyone tried Internet Security Software - AntivirusPlus 2012 yet?
I use the http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627 recommended by Savior, and the Raxco program seems similar, but you have to pay for it, and it is not well known yet. Was curious if the Raxco antivirus was a good program. I may put it on one of my systems and see what I think if no one can give me an opinion one way or the other. I've had pretty good experiences with Raxco so far. Their registry cleaner, although I would not recommend it as I do not recommend any registry cleaners, never caused major problems on any of the 10 systems I tested it out on. Their defrag program also seems to work well for speeding up systems. I'm curious, how does their antivirus software fare?

Internet Security Software - AntivirusPlus 2012 did not impress me. WOT is more careful than the system setup in that program, and the scan used too many system resources for my liking. It seems to have a lot of security features, but I could not tell whether they did anything or were just window dressing.
