Outlook 2010 - POP to IMAP

Hi guys, this is my first post here, I hope I'm posting in the right section and not breaking any rules.

So, here's the deal: at the place I'm working al the emails accounts have been configured as POP back in 2006. They're paying for a domain, etc., now they want to access the mail from their homes, so I have to change the configuration to IMAP.

I'll have to go one by one and edit all the accounts.
My question is about the importing the old (pop) emails they've been saving over the years (few GB for each, but it doesn't matter).

How do I do it? Make en export of all their folders/emails, configuration/etc., delete the POP account, and re-add it as an IMAP one? And after that just import the .pst file I previously saved? That will import all the emails and folders?

Or I'll have to just import the .pst file, and move - with my hands - the emails to the IMAP account?

Also, in the future if needed, I'll be able to make back-ups of the IMAP emails? I'll be able to download them all and store them locally?

Thanks in advance for any input or help!

edit: please, a kind mod, move this to: Browsers & Mail. Thanks!

Thanks you very much, Lemur!

I'll try that and mark the thread as solved if that's the case, once I try it out.

Thanks again!
