I'm afraid that I am going to have to remain very skeptical about the results of this test. Seems rather self serving don't you think.

Just imagine, Microsoft says that IE8 is the best browser and you can believe it because they say so and you know they have your best interests at heart right.

Oh I am so surprised that no other browser even got above 27% vers. Microsofts 81%. Sounds fair and unbalanced to me.

I however use other products including browser addons and AV to handle this situation but if you want to trust and not run other products/AV thats your decision.

Frankly I find this posted story a little lite on reality and substance, but heh...we can trust Daddy Balmer ....right?....right?...well....

yeah..you do need to take it with a grain of salt since the test were sponsered by m$ (how independant were they really?)

i used to use firefox, but iv;e gone back to IE since now its seems to be faster and looks better.

The ONLY reason i use it is for the real time spell checker.

Im sure FF users will dispute the test but with what proof? Just because it was done my MS? Thats not proof.

well, technically, m$ didn't run the test. They did however sponsor it so it makes me kind of dubious

Yeah, i can understand that and im not saying we shouldn't believe the test was 100% fair.
But im sure someone will post that's its a lie or rubbish and its then i would like to see what proof THEY have.

Just having a bad day :-(

I've been pretty much using Firefox exclusively for years and have never really had a problem with malware or other things on my PC. I think a lot has to do with the types of sites that you visit and what you do (for my questionalble surfing...it usually happens from a virtual machine running Puppy Linux or some other small fast booting distro).

So, I'm still going to keep using firefox because I value the add-ons more than I do the % of malware sites Microsoft says it blocks...or doesn't.

The fact of the matter is that most of the malware is aimed at defeating IE security therefore it has to be a more secure browswer than the other ones. I like IE the best anyway.

if you're a firefox user, just get adblock plus, and you'll never see a single one of those adds that lead to malware sites. if you get the norton toolbar, you can see if a site is good or bad also.
