Bose Companion 5 - how to increase treble/mixer?

I have Bose Companion 5 speakers - USB connected. The only sound control is a base volume on the subwoofer module. There doesn't seem to be anyway to modify the treble volume nor do I see a mixer. Using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The base, even when turned down is too deep and I would like to increase the treble so that voices are clearer. Bose support tech claims he doesn't use Windows so he can't help. Has anyone figured out how to adjust the sound with these speakers?

There doesn't seem to be much around for Windows 7 EQ, if there isn't one included with the sound device and there isn't with the sound device you have in the PC.

Some media players, such as the Windows Media Player have built in EQ options, but they are only applicable when you are using the media player.

Doing a google search, this is a common complaint with Win 7. My suggestion is to get some different speakers that have a tone control on them. Those Bose speakers have the Bose name but are not the best speakers Dell sold with new PC's. Get a standard "Analog" 2.1 speaker system and connect them to the GREEN speaker jack on the rear of the PC, not a USB connected speaker set. You can get PC speakers at many places, you don't need "Dell" speakers.

Thanks for your reply. I found a great music player called MusicBee which has a built-in equalizer. The Creative software that comes with my soundcard has great controls but they only apply to the outputs from the card e.g. optical out, not USB. I bought the Bose Companion 5 after the fact, not from Dell and the sound quality is good but you may be right, I would have much more flexibility with the Creative controls if I used a 2.1 speaker system connected to the card. I thought I would watch movies on the PC but have found that's not the case, I'm too distracted by work, Facebook and Twitter
