I resized my c: and d: drives to allocate more space to the c: drive. When it finished and rebooted I was unable to use most of my programs. They would open only after giving me various error msg's. All of which stated to run chkdsk. I tried to ru chkdsk but it didn't work or rather would not run. I decided to reboot my latop and have it run chkdsk upon boot up. When it restarted I saw the ASUS screen, then the screen with the cursor in the top left and then a black screen. I have tried rebooting and pressing the F8, F10, F12, and F5 keys. None of which take me to the boot menu or anywhere for that matter.

I have created the recovery on a USB. But i have no way of getting my laptop to boot from the USB. I can also make a recovery cd but still have no way of making the laptop boot from the disk drive.

Any help? Thoughts?

Thanks

Try hitting the delete key, repeatedly after a reboot.

After hitting the delete key repeatedly it takes me to the the set up utility. I changed the boot order but it still won't boot from the cd drive. Is there anything else I can do from the Setup Utility?

Thanks I appreciate the help.

Reset the BIOS to defaults. Set CD/DVD drive to boot first in BIOS setup, then HD.

DId you use free Partition Wizard bootable CD, the only partition manager besides Disk Mgmt which will not fail? If not it may have scrambled your data. Boot into Win7 DVD, REpair CD or Paragon Rescue CD to see if you can find your files. Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then order your factory Recovery Disks or download a Win7 ISO for your licensed version to clean reinstall with the Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7

I have tried Paragon Rescue CD. I can see my C: drive and some files in it. When i got to the partition boot record it shows that I have an invalid OS. I would assume that I need to re install Windows 7? As well my D: drive says invalid.

I used Mini tool partition tool kit. I made the D: drive smaller and the C: larger. Looks like it did scramble everything. Unfortunetly I don't have my Windows 7 disk with me as I am on holidays. I have the Wndows 7 iso that I purchased online but it doesn't seem to do anything.

You need to burn the ISO to a disc, and then boot from that.

Did you do that?

Follow these steps exactly after burning the ISO to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed: Reinstalling Windows 7

You should have used Partition Wizard bootable disk which will not fail, while the installed version and any other Disk Manager besides Disk Management will fail.

Read and follow all steps carefully, ask back if you have any questions because a simple mistake like missing that your are to use the PW disk can ruin your system. There is no substitute for thoroughness in these operations, there are no shortcuts, and no steps can be ignored or missed.
