Solved A feature I think is more nuisance than benifit. Anyone agree?

Is anyone else tired of the OS grouping all similar programs together on the bottom panel when they are minimized? I really miss how it was in XP when I could decide where all my icons were on the bottom panel regardless of whether they were seperate instances of the same program or not. This made it really fast and easy to switch between windows. Like for instance if I have several pdfs open and I want to quickly interchange between them it was super fast to just remember where they were on the bottom panel and click on the one I want to look at. Now with Windows 7 I have to click on or move my mouse over one pdf icon and then it brings up a fancy "mini-window" that shows all the pdfs I have open. Then I have to figure out where they are all the time (I rarely remember). Its frustrating to me enough that I felt the need to complain about it lol, so I was wondering if anyone else shares any of the same sentiments or knows of a solution aside from just dealing with it :huh:.

Am I really the only one who is having problems adjusting to this?? Is there a way to disable this feature, and simplify it back to the way it was in XP?

I can't find it right now, but it's definitely an option and I have it set the way you desire. I have about thirty windows open as we speak, many for the same software as well as for PDFs, and I'm seeing separate icons at the bottom of the screen.

Try this:

Right-click the Start button and click Properties.

Click the Taskbar tab then choose Never Combine for the taskbar buttons option.

Click Apply followed by OK.

Failing that, you could always ditch Windows 7 and go back to XP.

Right-click on your Taskbar then Properties and select "Do not combine" then Ok.
There, your taskbar is now XP style
