Hello everyone!

I need help deleting the XP partition in my dual-boot system with Windows 7. I don't need to use de Windows XP OS and I just wan't to delete it. I must also add that I used the EasyBCD software to create the dual-boot menu, but I installed it in the Win XP OS.
Thanks in advance and appreciate your help.

I have attached a screenshot of my Disk Managment partitions.

Boot into Windows 7 and type msconfig in the start-search box.Click on the boot tab and check if the windows xp is listed there.Open disk management, right click on XP partition and select delete volume.Make sure you back up all your data from the XP partition first.

Now open msconfig again, click on boot tab and delete the Windows XP from the list.Restart your system. If windows 7 doesn't boot up then try Start up repair http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html to repair the MBR boot files.

First of all, thank you very much for your reply, but I have a question. I opened the msconfig boot menu but Win XP is not listed. Does that mean I should download EasyBCD yo modify the boot menu?

Thanks again

I don't think so you need to add windows XP to the boot menu in windows 7.Still you can try in case you are thinking that deleting your XP partition will somehow muck up your windows 7 boot option.

Keep your windows 7 DVD in hand in case you need it to perform starup repair.

Let us know how it goes

your system is booting from "system reserved". That's the active primary partition with the bootmenu. So you can safely delete winxp partition without problems. Do it from within win7 disk management.

First delete winxp partition which is a logical partition within the extended partition. After that delete the extended partition which has unused space
