"Include in library" option suddenly missing from Windows Explorer

For no apparent reason, the function "include in library" in Windows Explorer (right click on a folder to include it in a library) is not longer there. It used to be. But now when I right click on a folder in Windows Explorer, it's simply not there anymore. Does anybody know how to restore it?
Or alternatively: does anybody know how to add music files to Playlists in Windows Mediaplayer without having to use libraries (like in previous versions of Windows)?

Hello IJmir,
I Did not try this so I recommend you to do a system restore before proceeding
Download the following archive and open the Registry Entry file "EnableLibrariesFeature.reg" and then click on "YES". Then re-log or restart your computer.

Thank you :)

Hey IJmir,
Can we make sure that Registry Editor applet is the current associated file with .REG files?

  • Right-click the .REG file and select Open With
  • Select "Registry Editor" from the list
If you can NOT see "Registry Editor"

  • Right-click the .REG file and select Open With
  • Click on "Browse.."
  • Type in the file name: %SYSTEMROOT%\regedit.exe
  • Click OK

Thank you :)

JoeMJV, does a system restore restore your system back to default settings? Because I wouldn't want that

Yep a system restore would restore the registry to its default so it's recommended that you create a restore point.
Don't forget to restart or re-log after you have merged the registry file

By the way, That's not my Registry File, I just got it from this

NOTE THAT: Libraries is a folder that appears in the right-pane. It's not the right-pane!

Thank you! :)

JoeMJV, yes it opens with Registry Editor
Hello IJmir,

Then try the following command using Command Console

  • Open the Start Menu
  • Select "Run..."
  • Insert the following
Code:
cmd /c reg.exe import (REG Entry File Location)

Thank you! :)

Hello IJmir,

If you are unable to merge the REG file from Joe's post above, then check in Default Programs to set the reg file extension to have it's Current Default program set as Registry Editor (C:\Windows\regedit.exe). Afterwards, try merging the REG file again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
