Can't access network share

I have a few computers on the network and they have shared files.I can see their shares fine...they can't see mine.
\\192.168.0.1 ->this doesn't work for them...they keep getting the error that they don't have permission to acess it.
\\192.168.0.1\SharedFolder
this works for them.They are mixed machines...vista , windows7 but they all get the error when trying to connect directly to my ip.
I tried enabling and then disabling homegroup(not using it btw) turning password protected sharing on and off...NOTHING works
What does one have to reset/fix in order to connect to the ip and see the shares on that machine.

Hi,

try using this registry patch on the affected computer (the one that has the shared folders, 192.168.0.1)

extract the attached zip file, merge the registry file (double-click on it) and then reboot. Then try to access the shares once again.

Leave password protected sharing OFF for now.

the reg file would probably fix the problem but i managed to solve it before you posted it.

i fiex it using local group policy editor

Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares -> this was enabled for some reason.Disabling it fixed the problem.

in case somebody else encounteres this problem.
didn't touch group policy so i don't know what exactly turned this setting on

Hi i have the same problem, i see the streaming server of my w7 but not the shares, i already disable pass and Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares

but my NMT linux dont see the shares, the pach is for W7 i supose, but what things the patch change?

Check your active services

I realize this is an old thread... but I recently had the exact same problem. Look at the services you have enabled in Windows 7.

If the above fix mentioned by Looooooka doesn't work, check to see that TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper is enabled. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 diagnostic utility doesn't let you know about that... so it is difficult to realize.

I am trying to access SMB shares on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from a linux machine.
I can see the Windows 7 machine (Computer) not can see or access any Shared folders.
I can tell you that I have loaded Windows 7 Professional (retail version) and have been able to get it to work with a little help from the these forums. (Thank you)
Funny thing is if I upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 professional I still can’t get it to work.


Ideally I would like to get it to work on Windows Home Premium.
