Sick of Windows, need a different OS idea.

Hi.

I'm absolutely sick of Windows. It's not bad, it's just that it's sluggish and I just want something new. I'd be more than happy to dual boot.

Anyway, I've tried using Ubuntu/Linux but I just hate the way it 'feels'. I've tried Android and Chromium but I don't get all of the features I'd like. The only one that I think I'd like would be OSX. I've got a copy of Leopard but I can't seem to get it working (send me a message if you'd like to know more).

Does anyone know of some secret OS that is really really awesome? Let me know :o

LinuxMint12 GNOME or KDE is pretty good. You could also try Zorin for something completely different if you like.

The slowness in your system is down to the amount of memory you have installed. 1.5GB is low for W7 (although it can run, albeit slowly, on less). With a low amount of memory as you have, the paging (swap) file is used more than it would be with a greater amount of RAM and, as the HDD is markedly slower than RAM, this will manifest itself as a slowing down of your computer.

Conclusion: I would consider increasing the amount of RAM, making sure that it matches.
